lyrics

Days drag on in night's lethal clutch
Thus advances my body, it dreams of the ability to give up,
Cold cogs rattle and sway in rusted motion,
Afraid to completely abandon the carnal fane, once subject to their devotion,
My flesh peels itself like leaves descend from branches in autumn,
Akin to the towering oak, I fear completely unrooting myself, meeting the jagged and unforgiving bottom

And so I rot slowly, lingering in decay conducted half time,
I neglect my needs, I'm still young but I fear I'll never see my prime,
I'll never be loved or admired as people once told me,
I'll forever wander alone, only compelled to seek warmth by intensifying agony,
I always told my family that love was something I never sought,
In reality it's something that always seemed like a far off daydream, an unattainable thought

Embracing the veil I had so wished love hid under,
Cheated of god's promise that no man be left asunder,
Petit Wasmes and the vigils held there remain fruitless,
Brother's hollow chants resurface yet I rest destitute, rootless,
Let vanish my lonesome fiending, Will there ever be any meaning,
Withered waters freeze in their weight at the faded stars' gleaming,
Bestow upon me purpose, don my life an ocean of meaning,
Give occasion to my inconsequential sighs and labored breathing

This body is a forlorn vessel destined to sink quietly,
a frigid tree alienated from the wood, oh so lonely,
And even if we may not be so far from shore,
The cries of civilization only leave me feeling more unsure,
Though I came into this world guided by petrichor and soft city lights,
The radiance now only vanishes upon meeting my countenance, It dies,
At night I write to someone, their frail figure forever haunted by dusk, I've long forgotten who it is,
By day I slip into ascesis, remember that my plight's warranted, Embrace the shallow body of fatigue, regret, and loneliness,
At first I confided in them as if they were friends, then they merged into my shadow, As long as the sun renders shade they are who I am,
Perhaps I am the lamb who travelled miles to escape who he is,
Don't receive me, Redemption never dreamt of for myself, I wish to roam freely, in the hollow of a distant wood somewhere else

To he who first bore my name, I know what it's like to write to no reply,
Resounding in the dead air of a starry sky, a faint dirge or whispered lullaby,
To he who I was named after, I know what it's like to be haunted,
and I know what it's like to yearn desperately to be wanted,
July 29th, 1890 and for 6 months after you rotted,
Not like your brother from the teeth but from your heart who beat on forgotten

Like he who first bore my name the last œuvre I'll sell will be a landscape of drear,
Sinking into woeful folly, no longer tormented by crippling fear,
33 might too mark my final year, Sheepishly pursued by silent laments,
I'll shed my ultimate tear as my wretched hand reaches out for the end
